<p class="bodytext">As many as 2,097 forms were received during the special drive to update electoral rolls in Dakshina Kannada on February 23.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Sasikanth Senthil S, addressing mediapersons at the DC’s court hall on Sunday said that the special drive was conducted on February 23 and 24 and will be held on March 2 and 3 in all polling booths in the district, from 10 am and 5.30 pm.</p>.<p class="bodytext">During the drive held on February 23, 1,815 forms for enrollment of new voters, 785 for deletion of names, 493 for corrections and four for address change were received in the constituency.</p>.<p class="CrossHead">Age proofs</p>.<p class="bodytext">The DC said that the voters’ submitting forms at the respective booths should produce age proofs such as birth certificate, SSLC marks card, Aadhaar card or PAN card and proof of address such as ration card, electricity bill, bank passbook copy and two passport size photographs.</p>.<p class="bodytext">As on January 16, 2019, the total number of voters in the district is 16,97,417. Of these, 8,33,719 are male and 8,63,698 are female. Names of 21,291 new voters were included in the voters’ list as on date.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The voters’ list would be constantly updated on the ceokarnataka.kar.nic.in.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Subject to rationalisation 71 new polling booths were formed in the district and the total number of polling booths is 1,861. Assistant Returning officers (ARO) have been deputed to each assembly constituency.</p>.<p class="CrossHead">Grievances</p>.<p class="bodytext">In order to address grievances related to the voters’ list people may contact the respective booth level officer or visit the election commission website or call the toll-free number 1950. Currently, the toll-free number works between 9 am to 9 pm.</p>.<p class="bodytext">People can upload their grievances or election model code of conduct violations on ‘cVigil’ mobile app launched by the Election Commission of India. The issues will be disposed off within 100 minutes from the time of repor`ting.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Demonstrations of electronic voting machines would be held soon the deputy commissioner added.</p>
