<p class="title">The 10th state convention of the United Plantation Workers’ Union will be held in Manasa Hall in Somwarpet, at 10 am on February 28, said AITUC district president H M Somappa.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Addressing reporters, he said that AITUC state secretary A D Vijayabhaskar will inaugurate the programme.</p>.<p class="bodytext">CPI secretary H M Renukaradhya, Kodagu district committee secretary Sunil, labour union leaders N Mani and others will attend. Representatives from Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Kodagu will take part, he said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Somappa alleged that the Central and the state governments have been implementing unscientific laws deliberately, to snatch the benefits of labourers.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He also warned of conducting severe protests if the BPL cards of two-wheeler owners are scrapped.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He further said, “The economy of the country is pathetic, owing to bad administration by the BJP-led Central government. The common man is burdened with high fuel prices.”</p>.<p class="bodytext">AITUC office-bearers P T Sundara and Kumar were present.</p>
