<p>Revenue Minister V Srinivas Prasad said officials should have complete information about the district while attending a meeting to discuss drought. The meeting is scheduled to he held in Mysuru on August 24.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Addressing a meeting with officials from various departments at the Travellers Bungalow in the town on Tuesday, Prasad said that all the deputy commissioners, CEOs, MLAs and MPs will attend the meeting to discuss drought and the measures to be taken to tackle it.<br />Deputy Commissioner Dr Ajay Nagabhushan said sugar cane grown on 11,900 hectares of land has dried and Rs 9.5 crore compensation is being sought. <br /><br />“The farmers have been advised not to cultivate sugar cane. With the decrease in the inflow of water to KRS dam, the water can last only up to January. Hence, water is being released once in 15 days,” he added.<br /><br />He explained about the sowing activities, awareness on alternative crops and other issues. Joint Director for Agriculture Raja Sulochana, SP Bhushan Borase and others were present.<br /><br />DC taken to task<br />Gandhi Bhavan Memorial Trust president G Madegowda took Deputy Commissioner Dr Ajay Nagabhushan to task over the issue related to allotment of land for Gandhi Bhavan, in the presence of Revenue Minister V Srinivas Prasad on Tuesday. <br /><br />Madegowda alleged that the district administration has been expressing helplessness over allotting 20 acres of land for the construction of Gandhi Bhavan and vent his ire over the DC. Madegowda demanded that the DC be transferred as he is acting according to the wishes of politicians. <br /><br />However, Minister Prasad intervened and explained that the Deputy Commissioner has no role in this and the decision has to be taken by the government. <br /><br />He assured to speak to the authorities concerned and do the needful.<br /> </p>
