TN SCERT team visits NTS-I

A six-member team of the Tamil Nadu State Council for Education Research and Training (SCERT), Chennai, including its director, visited the National Testing Service-India (NTS-I) for a two-day meeting at the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru recently.

The purpose of their visit is to know about the activities of NTS-I and the area of testing and evaluation. They visited NTS-I for consultation with resource persons to review worksheets prepared in Tamil, English and other subjects of the school curriculum of Tamil Nadu government. They expressed their willingness to collaborate with NTS-I in preparation of textbooks for all subjects in Tamil Nadu.

D G Rao, Director of CIIL, discussed about the extension of the NTS-I activities to other disciplines of education, besides language subjects in due course. Rameswaramurugan, Director of SCERT, said, his council is developing worksheets on continuous comprehensive evaluation and wanted them validated by the NTS-I.

He insisted upon the NTS-I to develop benchmarks for assessing the students’ learning achievement from first to 12th standard, besides educating on how to write analytical and interpretive questions in an innovative way.

L Ramamoorthy, officer in-charge, NTS-I, briefed about the activities of NTS-I and CIIL. Resource persons V Gnanasundaram, Sam Mohanlal, N Nadaraja Pillai and M Balakumar participated in the discussion.
