<p class="title">The University Grants Commission (UGC) has rejected University of Mysore (UoM)'s proposal seeking extension for admissions to various courses under distance education programme.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The varsity has received only 33 applications for distant learning courses as of October 20, the last date for application.</p>.<p class="bodytext">According to UoM Registrar R Rajanna, due to shortage of time only few applicants applied for the courses.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A large number of students enquired about admissions after the last date for application; and so the Registrar had requested the UGC to extend the deadline.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Rajanna said, UGC denied permission and suggested to take up new admissions in January.</p>
