<p class="rtejustify">The counting of votes for 102 urban local bodies and three city corporations in Karnataka are going on across the state.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">The counting of votes began at 8 am at jurisdictional district headquarters for city corporations, and jurisdictional taluk headquarters for other ULBs.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">All three parties - Congress, BJP and the JD(S) - are hoping to garner maximum number of seats to galvanise the party cadres for Lok Sabha elections.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">Though the JD(S) and the Congress are partners in the coalition government, the two decided to fight the ULB polls independently.</p>.<p class="rtejustify"><strong>Results:</strong></p>.<p class="rtejustify"><strong>Coastal Karnataka</strong></p>.<p class="rtejustify">Congress won Ullal CMC with 13 seats out of 31 seats. BJP and SDPI got 6 seats, JDS secured 4 and others earned 3. The CMS comes under Minister U T Khader's constituency, and Congress is short of 3 seats for a majority.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">Another gridlock in Bantwal CMC, where Congress led with 12 seats, BJP secured 11 and SDPI got 4 out of 27 seats.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">The BJP won with thumping majority in Puttur CMC with 25 seats out of 31 while Congress won five and SDPI -1.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">The BJP won a thumping majority in Udupi CMC polls. Out of 35 seats, BJP won 31 and Congress - 4. Cong won 17seats, while BJP won 7, and Independent got 3.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">In Gokak CMC in Belagavi district, all 31 seats won by Independents, 30 candidates are supporters of district in-charge minister Ramesh Jarkiholi. Independents claimed five seats, Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI)-one.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">The electoral officer initially withheld the result of the ward number 15 which witnessed a tie between Congress and JD(S). </p>.<p class="rtejustify">In ward number 15, both Congress and JD(S) candidates bagged 1,708 votes each. The tie was not resolved even after recounting. So, the electoral officer decided to declare the winner by draw of lots.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">Finally, JD(S) candidate Satyanarayana Raju was declared the winner in ward number 15 by draw of lots.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">At the end of counting for all the 35 seats, the tally was: BJP-20, Congress seven, JD(S)-two and Independents five seats, SDPI-one. <strong> </strong></p>
