Mysuru: Out of 18 people from Karnataka who died in the landslides in Wayanad, Kerala, bodies of five more people were traced on Friday. They are yet to trace two more bodies.
They have traced bodies of Gurumallan (60), Appanna (39), Divya (35), Ashwini (13), Jithu (11) from Ukkalagere of T Narsipur taluk of Mysuru district and residents of Chooralmala in Wayanad.
They are yet to trace bodies of Rathnamma (45) wife of Rajendra of Irasavadi of Chamarajanagar taluk; and Sabitha (43) from Ukkalagere of T Narsipur taluk of Mysuru district.
Gundlupet Tahsildar Ramesh Babu informed.
Relatives of two victims of Wayanad landslide from Mandya district went distraught as their bodies were brought by Mandya district administration to their village on Thursday might night around 12.30am. They were cremated on the Pyre in the wee hours of Friday morning around 2am.
Leelavathi (55) and her grandson Nihal (2.5) were brought to Kaththaragatta village of KR Pet taluk of Mandya district. (The incident occurred when Leelavathi had been to see her son Anil Kumar and daughter in law Jhansi Rani in Mundakkai.)
KR Pet MLA H T Manjunath and Mandya district in-charge minister N Chaluvarayaswamy visited their house in Kattaragatta and consoled relatives. Chaluvarayaswamy promised to get Rs 5 lakh compensation from State Government for Leelavathi's death and a small amount of compensation for child's death also.
He said that their other family members Anil, Jhansi Rani and Devaraju are treated at hospital in Meppadi. If they wish to continue treatment in hospital in Karnataka, State Government is ready to extend support.
If they have lost documents and are not getting compensation for their house lost in Kerala, they will try to get house under Ashraya scheme in the State. State Government will help them with job and provide all possible assistance for their future, Minister Chaluvarayaswamy said.
