Thiruvananthapuram: The opposition Congress on Wednesday accused IPS officer M R Ajith Kumar of acting as a 'middleman' between Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the RSS.
Congress alleged that CM Vijayan deputed ADGP (law and order) M R Ajith Kumar to meet RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale in Thrissur in 2023 to save Vijayan from probe by central agencies and in return promised to help BJP to open an account in Kerala.
Opposition leader V D Satheesan raised the allegation close on the heels of CPI(M)-backed independent MLA P V Anvar alleging that Ajith Kumar played role in creating problems during the famed Thrissur Pooram festival just ahead of the Lok Sabha polls and it helped the BJP win the maiden seat to the Lok Sabha from Kerala.
Alleging that the CPI(M)-BJP unholy nexus in Kerala was again coming out in the open, Satheesan asked Vijayan to give a clarification for the ADGP's meeting with the RSS leader.
However, the CM and the RSS are yet to respond to these allegations.
Despite a ruling MLA raising serious charges against his political secretary P Sasi and the ADGP, Vijayan is still protecting them, he alleged, referring to the recent charges levelled against them by LDF legislator P V Anvar.
He further alleged that Ajith Kumar met with the RSS leader in a private car when he had attended a camp organised by the right-wing outfit in a school in Paramekkavu in Thrissur in May last year and spoke for over an hour.
The IPS officer left his official vehicle at a hotel and went to the school in a private car, Satheesan alleged.
He also said that the ADGP was present in Thrissur when the police played the spoilsport at the Thrissur Pooram. But the blame was put on the then Thrissur city police commissioner.
Ajith Kumar allegedly extended such undue help to Vijayan earlier also by taking into custody an accomplice of gold smuggling accused Swapna Suresh when the latter raised serious allegations against Vijayan.
