In order to ensure safety of doctors and other health workers, the Kerala government has decided to carry out space audit at the government medical college hospitals in the state and implement code grey protocol.

Health minister Veena George held a meeting of top officials of the health department in view of the recent incident at Kolkata. The officials were directed to ensure safety at hospitals by conducting mock drills. Strict restrictions will be imposed on entry of people to hospitals. Electronic security systems will be implemented.

The minister also directed that a proper mechanism should be put in place in hospitals to provide information regarding health status of patients.

Various forums of doctors in Kerala had staged protests expressing solidarity with the nationwide doctors' strike. Kerala Medical Post-Graduates Association had also submitted a memorandum to state health minister Veena George demanding immediate security audit at all medical colleges in the state.
