Pune: Pune police on Thursday arrested Manorama Khedkar, mother of controversial IAS probationer Puja Khedkar, in a case of allegedly threatening some persons by brandishing a gun over a land dispute, officials said.

The Paud police station of Pune Rural police has arrested Manorama Khedkar from a hotel near Mahad town in Raigad district.

Puja Khedkar’s father and Manorama Khedkar’s husband Dilip Khedkar, a former bureaucrat, too have come under the scanner in connection with amassing huge assets.

She was produced before a local court, which remanded her to police custody for three days.

Manorama Khedkar is a Sarpanch of Bhalgaon in Ahmednagar district.

The video, which was shot some years ago, has surfaced a day after Manorama had threatened the media and police personnel outside her Pune residence last week.

She had a pistol in her hand and was heard asking, “Show me the saat-barah (7/12 land extract records)… this (land) is in my name… if you claim, show me the court order.”

Manorama Khedkar was accompanied by a few bouncers at the time of the incident.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s Pune unit has received a complaint seeking an open inquiry against Puja Khedkar’s father Dilip Khedkar, a retired government officer, in connection with alleged disproportionate assets.

As an inquiry is under way by the ACB’s Nashik unit against him into the alleged disproportionate assets, the Pune unit has sought directions from the ACB headquarters in Mumbai whether to lodge a fresh complaint.
