<p>The strict resections in India’s financial capital of Mumbai would go by the month-end amid the weakening of the third wave of Covid-19 pandemic.</p>.<p>However, the compulsory mask rule and social distancing norms would remain.</p>.<p>Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar gave this information. "There is good news for Mumbaikars. Mumbai will be unlocked by the end of this month. We have made up our minds, but it is essential for the people to wear masks and observe social distancing," Pednekar said on Tuesday.</p>.<p>The Mayor’s statement assumes significance ahead of the weekly Cabinet meeting - during which Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will take a review of the pandemic situation and the vaccination status.</p>.<p>Mumbai’s daily cases have averaged between 500 and 1,000 over the last week and as per Monday’s bulletin, the total cases in the city was 356.</p>.<p>The total active cases in Mumbai is a little over 5,000.</p>.<p>“Soon, we can look forward to moving into endemicity and that's what all of us aim for for a long time. We can also look forward to only 'mask-up and all guards down' very soon and that may be by the end of this month itself,” said Dr Ishwar Gilada, Secretary General, Organised Medicine Academic Guild.</p>.<p>It may be mentioned, the Maharashtra government earlier has ruled out dilution of compulsory mask rule.</p>.<p><strong>Check out latest DH videos here</strong></p>
