Nitish flags off rath carrying signatures on special status

Kumar, despite his illness, attended the function held in the state unit JD(U) office where he flagged of a cavalcade of vehicles carrying bundles of signatures of the people of Bihar to be submitted to the Prime Minister in the form of a memorandum in New Delhi after it reached the national capital on July 13 next.

A 121-member delegation comprising state unit JD(U) president Vashisth Narayan Singh, MPs R C P Singh and Monazir Hasan, a number of MLAs and leaders of various fronts of the ruling party left for New Delhi by the rath and other vehicles to submit the signatures to the Prime Minister to press for the special status demand.

Altogether 26 vehicles will be travelling carrying the signatures and enroute the delegates will halt at Buxur, Allahabad and Agra enroute to New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Singh said that the JD(U) delegation has sought appointment with the Prime Minister for submission of the memorandum.

Water Resources minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary urged the Centre to accord special status to Bihar as the backward state met all criterion required for the purpose.
