<p>The draft bill, that met the state cabinet’s approval this morning, will be presented during the Punjab Vidhan Sabha session, which started on Monday. Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said this landmark piece of legislation would go a long way to weed out inefficiency at the grass-roots level and to ensure transparency and accountability in the system. <br /><br />Under Right to Service Act, time bound delivery of 67 citizen centric services to the public will be ensured as a matter of right. Besides this, the provision of punishment for civil servants, in case they fail to comply with the prescribed timeframe, has also been incorporated.<br /><br /> For every service that is rendered, including registration of vehicles, making of licenses, ration cards, registration of land deeds, information on land records, transfer of property, approval of building plants et al, the maximum number of days needed for the task have been specified.</p>
