<p>Indian Youth Congress workers staged a protest on Monday against Delhi University’s decision to call RSS joint general secretary Krishna Gopal for addressing students going to the North-East on a study tour.</p>.<p>His briefing ahead of the annual educational trip on Gyanodaya Express had raised concerns among a section of students over the “interference” of the RSS in the affairs of the varsity, Deccan Herald had reported last week.</p>.<p>The top RSS functionary spoke on the topics of Indian “motherland” and Hindu mythology linked to north-eastern states while addressing some 600 students inside a packed Delhi University auditorium. </p>.<p>Upset with the university’s invitation to the RSS member, general secretary of the Indian Youth Congress and in-charge of Delhi Youth Congress Harsh Vardhan Shyam alleged that the university was blindly following the saffron agenda of the BJP government. <br /><br />“In his speech, he stressed categorically that people in the north-east were forcefully converted to Christianity. He traced back a history that the north-east people were originally from the Hindu faith,” Shyam told reporters. Sources, however, said that Gopal did not make that specific remark.<br /></p>
