Tamil Nadu BJP leaders on Wednesday met Governor R N Ravi and submitted a memorandum with documents on assets held by DMK leaders through their "benamis" and alleged corruption to the tune of Rs 5,600 crores in three departments.
The memorandum was handed over to Ravi by a delegation led by state unit chief K Annamalai, who will undertake a state-wide padayatra from Rameswaram on Friday. While Annamalai didn’t speak to the media, he took to X (formely known as Twitter) to post a video with “evidence” on "benami properties" held by families of the DMK's top brass and alleged corruption in various departments.
Calling them as part-two of the 'DMK files' released in April, Annamalai alleged that scams to the tune of Rs 3,000 crore (IT Department), Rs 2,000 crore (Transport department), and Rs 600 crore (Health department) have taken place under the current DMK regime. DMK didn’t respond to the allegations till the time of writing.
“We will elaborate more on this during our Padayatra to our friends in the press & media. We demand answers from the corrupt DMK Government…We presented a memorandum seeking his excellency’s intervention & suitable action concerning part 2 of DMK files with documents on Benami connected to the DMK ministers/MLAs/MPs & the first family,” he said.
In April, Annamalai had alleged that top guns of DMK and their family members, including those related to Chief Minister M K Stalin, own assets worth Rs 1.32 lakh crore. The DMK filed a slew of defamation cases against Annamalai for levelling “false” and “baseless” allegations against its leaders.
Annamalai had said the second part of the DMK Files series would “expose” the details of black money held by leaders and their family members.
