<p>Puducherry is all set for President's Rule with the Union Cabinet on Wednesday clearing a proposal to invoke Article 356 of the Constitution after no party staked claim for forming a government there.</p>.<p>The decision came at a meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi following a recommendation by the Puducherry Lieutenant General, who said that no party came forward to stake claim after Congress Chief Minister V Narayanasamy resigned before a vote of confidence vote.</p>.<p>The file will now go to President Ram Nath Kovind, who is likely to give his assent for imposing President's Rule in Puducherry later Wednesday.</p>.<p>After President gives his assent, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said the assembly will be dissolved.</p>.<p>This will be the 131st time that President's Rule is imposed in the country since independence. The last time Article 356 was invoked was in October 2019 in Maharashtra.</p>
