New ministers Atishi will look after education, while Saurabh Bharadwaj has been assigned health by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Both the AAP MLAs, who were inducted into the Ministry after the resignation of jailed former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and former Minister Satyendar Jain, were sworn in by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena.

Kejriwal and Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhur among others were present at the oath-taking ceremony.

Sources said Atishi will handle Education, Public Work Departments, Power and Tourism while Saurabh Bharadwaj will handle Health, Urban Development, Water and Industries.

Finance, handled by Sisodia, will be handled by Kailash Gautam, who will present the Budget in the third week of this month. Earlier, the party had decided not to appoint a Deputy Chief Minister to send a message that it has not given up on Sisodia.

Atishi was working closely with Sisodia, who was handling the Education portfolio and has been considered to be one of the brains behind reforms in the educational system.

Bharadwaj gets health, another prominent portfolio in the AAP government and handled earlier by Jain before being transferred to Sisodia.

Both health and education sectors were highlighted by the AAP in other states as its success stories and the party chose its two popular faces for the important assignment at a time it is facing a crisis with its two top leaders in jail.

For both, the challenges are more as they handle other sensitive departments. Atishi will be handling power and PWD while Bharadwaj will have the water department under his belt.

AAP chief spokesperson Bharadwaj, a computer engineer, was a minister in Kejriwal's 49-day government and is now returning to the governance set up while Aatishi will be entering the government for the first time.

Bharadwaj represents Greater Kailash while Atishi represents Kalkaji and both are considered close to Kejriwal.
