In the upcoming Assembly polls, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will contest from Nandigram. While announcing the list of candidates for 291 out of total 294 constituencies, Mamata said that she will give up the Bhowanipore seat. The remaining three seats in Darjeeling will be contested by TMC allies. Party leader Sovandeb Chattopadhyay will be fighting from the Bhawanipore seat. The Chief Minister during the briefing also thanked Tejashwi Yadav, Arvind Kejriwal, Hemant Soren and Shiv Sena for extending their support to her. TMC leaders break down in tears after being dropped, protests in few areas. If Mithun Chakraborty comes it will be good both for Bengal and BJP, said Arjun Singh. TMC MLA opts out of Bengal Assembly polls

Amid exodus of a number of public representatives and workers, another Trinamool Congress MLA Samir Chakraborty said on Friday that he would not like to contest the West Bengal Assemblyelections.

"I have informed party supremo (Mamata Banerjee) that I don't want to contest the elections but will campaign for the party," Chakraborty said in a Facebook post.
