Vivo's previous generation X-series phone X50 Pro set in new benchmark with in-built Gimbal system in the primary camera hardware. It delivered high-quality stable pictures and videos.
.
Now, the company has launched the successor X60 Pro with improved photography hardware and also packs a powerful new processor to offer efficient and smooth performance.
.
I spent a few hours with Vivo's new X60 Pro and here are my initial thoughts.
.
Design and display
Vivo's V20 series was one of the best-looking phones in the market. They came with a wonderful paint job with glossy shell. With the new x60 Pro, the company though keeps a similar camera module on the back, has gone a notch up with the colourway particularly the Shimmer Blue. It reflects psychedelic colours when viewed from multiple angles. The gradient design and satin AG technology have ensured the device has a matte finish with a smooth hand-feel. Also, it resists fingerprint smudges.
.
On the front, Vivo has incorporated a fine quality 6.56-inch E3 AMOLED display with full HD+ (2376×1080p) resolution and support HDR10+ format and 120Hz screen refresh rate.
.
With the AMOLED screen and high refresh rate, it promises to offer an immersive viewing experience while watching HD videos and also playing graphics-intense games.
.
The display is protected by SCHOTT Xensation Up shield on the back, the device has Corning's Gorilla Glass 5 series shield.
.
Processor configuration
Vivo's new X60 Pro houses 7nm class Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 octa-core processor which comes paired with Adreno 650 GPU, Android 11-based Funtouch OS 11.1, 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, and 256GB (UFS 3.1) storage.
.
With such a powerful configuration, we expect the Vivo X60 Pro to perform any day-to-day tasks such as web browsing, watching videos, opening apps, switching between multiple apps, smoothly work while playing graphics-rich games.
.
In the brief time, I have spent with the device, it has so far worked wonderfully well without any fuss.
.
Also, it houses a standard 4,200mAh battery. This is more than enough to keep the phone running for more than a day under normal usage. It comes with a 33W charger and this can power up the phone from zero to 100 per cent less than an hour.
.
However, we will deliver the final verdict very soon. We will run through its paces to assess how well it fares in heavy duty tasks such as 4K recording and night-time photo shooting sessions and also play the Asphalt 9 series.
.
Camera:
Vivo's new X60 Pro boasts a triple-camera module with Zeiss-made lenses- main 48MP (with Sony IMX598 sensor, f/1.48, Gimbal Stabilization 2.0, 5-axis VIS) backed by 13MP 120-degree ultra-wide lens with 2.5cm macro, f/2.2 ) with 13MP 50mm portrait camera (f/2.46, 2x optical zoom). On the front, it features 32MP (f/2.45).
.
It takes brilliant images in the sunlight. The pictures retain quite a lot of details of the subjects and have near-natural colours with less saturation. So far so good.
.
We will test the X60 Pro capability at the night and also in controlled light conditions indoors.
.
Vivo X60 Pro costs Rs 49,990 and is slated to go on sale on April 2 and can be pre-order on Amazon and Flipkart from March 25 onwards.
.
Stay tuned for the full detailed review in the coming week.
