<p>A disciplined Madras Engineer Group (MEG) notched a 2-1 win over Controllerate of Inspection Electronics (CIL) in the BDFA Super Division League here on Friday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>In a keenly contested affair at the Bangalore Football Stadium, Ayush and Christopher netted for MEG, while an own-goal from Dhanji gave CIL some consolation.<br /><br />The game began at a frenetic pace with the army side gunning for an early lead but CIL’s defence remained resolute till the 24th minute.<br /><br />The goal came from a set-piece when Ramu floated in a delightful cross, at pace, from a corner. Ayush managed to shrug off his marker and the defender beat CIL custodian R Abhishek with a powerful header from near the post.<br /><br />The remainder of the first half turned out to be a strongly-fought midfield battle.<br />CIL game out all guns blazing in the second period with a barrage of attacks that tested MEG custodian Renju S Mohan.<br /><br />They eventually found their way back into the game in the 54th minute when R Vijaya slammed a 30-yard free-kick into the box. In an attempt to clear the ball, Dhanji erred and his deflection rolled to the back of the net.<br /><br />The joy of levelling the scores, though, was short-lived as right at the restart, MEG grabbed the lead again.<br /><br />Skipper Sukesh Leon made a run on the left sideline before finding Christopher in the six-yard box and the midfielder made no mistake as he tapped the ball in with only the ’keeper to beat.<br /><br />In an ‘A’ Division tie, Income Tax breezed to a comfortable 3-1 win over Bangalore Eagles.<br /><br />Shivakumar (24th minute), Syed Ahamed (72nd) and Karthigeyan (80+4) got on the scoresheet for Income Tax, while Sunil (34th) scored for Eagles.<br /><br /></p>
