<p>The rebel star of Kannada film industry and former Union minister Ambareesh was cremated with full state honours at the Kanteerava Studios on Monday evening.</p>.<p>Ambareesh's son Abhishek Gowda performed the last rites under the guidance of his wife Sumalatha as per the 'vokkaliga' tradition. All the rituals were performed by priests Chikka Huchchaiah and Konappa Poojari from Maddur, who have been conducting all religious events in Ambareesh's family. The team was assisted by priests from Bengaluru.</p>.<p>The state police gave a 21-gun salute as the National Anthem rent the air. Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy handed over the national flag that was draped around Ambareesh's body to Sumalatha. </p>.<p>Former prime minister Deve Gowda, former chief ministers S M Krishna, B S Yeddyurappa and Siddaramaiah led a contingent of heavyweight political leaders from across the political spectrum who paid tributes to Ambareesh.</p>.<p>Cine stars from Sandalwood and the Telugu film industry also paid homage to Ambareesh.</p>.<p>Thousands of fans lined up the streets along the procession route to catch a glimpse of the late actor who captivated the people of Karnataka with stunning performances in classics like 'Naagarahavu', 'Antha' and 'Ranganayaki'.</p>.<p>Ambareesh passed away on Saturday evening due to a massive cardiac arrest.
