<p>Special officer of the newly formed Mandya University M S Mahadeva Nayak said that courses that provided employments to students would be offered from academic year 2019-20.</p>.<p>Speaking at the special meeting of the College Development Committee, he said:“Mandya University will function independently under the University Grants Commission (UGC). Courses that help students to get jobs will be started as per the UGC objectives.”</p>.<p>“Efforts will be made to develop the varsity as a model university. All divisions required for the model university will be opened. While the Centre is providing 65% funds, the State will release 35% funds. Along with traditional courses, priority will be for research-oriented courses. Students joining the first year can study the new courses,” he said.</p>.<p>College Development Committee president and MLA M Srinivas said that the long-pending demand to upgrade the government college as a university has been realised.</p>.<p>“The college is given the university status keeping in mind social, financial and educational prospects,” he said.</p>
