Temple tragedy: Muzrai dept issues diktat

Waking up after the Chamarajanagar tragedy, the Muzrai department has mandated religious institutions under its fold to obtain prior permission for events where devotees volunteer to prepare and serve food to other devotees.

The Muzrai department has stated that before food prepared by devotees is served, it will have to be checked by the Health department.

Kitchens, where food is prepared for divine offering and serving to devotees, should have surveillance cameras installed.

Religious institutions have been asked to strictly make sure that entry of unauthorised persons into kitchens is prohibited.
