<p class="title">A class 10 student of Poorna Prajna school based in Bhadravathi town, died on the spot and six others sustained severe injuries in a road mishap that took place at Southikere village near N R Pura town in Chikkamagaluru district on Saturday morning.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Police said that the children were on a school trip to Horanadu in Chikkamagalur district. Nearly 90 students of class 10 were headed to the Annapoorneshwari temple in Horanadu in two private buses as part of annual tour.</p>.<p class="CrossHead"><strong>Killed on spot</strong></p>.<p class="bodytext">According to the school management, Diya (16), an SSLC student, died on the spot and the ten other students sustained injuries.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Of them, six are severely injured and are battling for life at a private hospital in the city.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Of the two, one bus turned turtle when the driver lost control and hit an electric pole.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Diya, who was seated behind the driver, was killed on the spot and six others were injured. It is learnt that Nandini, Diya's classmate, lost an arm in the mishap.</p>.<p class="CrossHead"><strong>Two day tour</strong></p>.<p class="bodytext">The school kids were on two-day tour to visit Udupi and St Mary's Island at Malpe on Sunday. They were supposed to return to Bhadravathi on November 11, evening. The principal and his daughter were also in the same bus. But they were not seriously hurt.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The injured students were shifted to a general hospital and a private hospital in Shivamogga, after first aid in general hospital in N R Pura.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner K A Dayananda, visited the hospitals and interacted with the school authorities.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He told officials of the health department to take all steps to ensure that the injured students get treatment and submit a detailed report on the incident to him.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The school management declared a holiday on Saturday following the incident.</p>
