Air Quality Index
Delhi Smog: GRAP-IV imposed as air pollution turns 'severe plus'
A thick blanket of toxic smog engulfed Delhi-NCR, with air quality hitting the highest this year after dense fog overnight. Visibility nearly dropped to 100 m (109 yards) in Delhi, with authorities announcing the closure of schools. The flights and trains continued to operate with some delays amid dense fog. India's pollution control authority said the national capital territory's 24-hour air quality index (AQI) reading was at 484, classified as "severe plus," the highest this year. Amid the worsening situation, authorities have imposed stringent anti-pollution measures under Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to curb the worsening crisis.

Delhi Pollution Highlights | 'Making efforts for this again and again,' says Delhi minister on artificial rains
With Delhi’s air quality in the 'severe' zone for the third consecutive day, the Commission for Air Quality Management on Thursday had imposed a set of the stringent regulatory measures including a complete halt on construction and demolition activities while directing the authorities to stop a large number of inter-state buses and trucks outside the national capital. The air quality index in Delhi was 411 (severe) at 9 AM Friday. However, with wind speed picking up, the average 24-hour AQI at 4 PM came down to 396, still considered 'very poor'. CM on Friday announced staggered timings for government offices in the city to ease traffic congestion given the pollution levels.
