Assembly Elections 2024 Updates | Srinagar's markets will now celebrate both Eid and Diwali, says Modi
Good afternoon reader. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address in Srinagar accused the PDP, NC and Congress of looting Jammu and Kashmir. This is the PM's second rally in Jammu and Kashmir in view of the ongoing assembly elections. A voter turnout of more than 61.11% was recorded in the first phase of assembly polls covering 24 segments across seven districts in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, the Election Commission said. In a surprise move, while addressing the party workers for the first time since getting bail, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that he is going to resign from the CM post within 48 hours. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally in Jharkhand's Jamshedpur on Sunday and said that JMM, RJD and Congress are the three enemies of the state. The state will go to polls in November-December this year. On Saturday, he kicked off the Bhartiya Janata Party's (BJP) campaign in Haryana, and Jammu and Kashmir. In Haryana, where assembly polls are scheduled for October 5, Modi told a rally that the Congress' politics today has reduced to spreading 'falsehoods and anarchy'. Meanwhile, in Jammu and Kashmir, he promised to connect unlinked areas of the UT through the railway network, announcing that trains will soon reach the Kashmir valley. Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi Marlena addressed a press conference where they called for re-elections in Delhi. On the other hand, BJP's Ravneet Singh Bittu teared into the Congress stating, "Gandhi family under a conspiracy raped our mothers and sisters in the streets." Addressing an election rally in the Doda district of Jammu region in support of BJP candidates, PM Modi said, 'We and you together will make Jammu and Kashmir a secure and prosperous part of the country.' This was the first election rally by the prime minister ahead of the first phase of Assembly polls scheduled on September 18. Later in the day, Modi addressed a rally in Haryana's Kurukshetra where he slammed the Congress party for their anti-reservation outlook. He also said that today's Congress is a new form of urban Naxal. On the other hand, Arvind Kejriwal met all the senior party leaders to discuss upcoming Haryana polls while J P Nadda chaired a key meet in Maharashtra ahead of the polls.
