Karnataka govt withholds best teacher award to principal over his alleged 'anti-Hijab' stand
Ramakrishna B G, principal of the Government Pre-University College at Kundapura in Udupi district, was supposed to receive the award today on Teachers' Day but the decision was kept on hold after the Congress government drew flak from some activists of the Muslim community, the sources said.

Hearing the hijab matter, Karnataka High Court said it needs the attention of a larger bench, while lawyers representing the petitioners asked the court to pass an interim order allowing students to attend classes. Karnataka Home Minister Araga Janendra said that his government would probe the role of organisations that instigated protests across the state.
