Even as the Kerala government is still pressing for elevated highway along the Bandipur national park, environmentalists are strongly opposing it, citing that even the Supreme Court suggested a permanent closure of the stretch as it passed through the buffer zones of the tiger reserve.

3rd protest against night traffic in Bandipur
Like-minded people who are against the demands for night traffic and elevated roads in Bandipur are holding the third protest in a fortnight on Saturday at Maddur Range Checkpost, under Bandipur Tiger Reserve. It will be a silent protest ‘Save Bandipur’ from 11 am to 4 pm between Gundlupet and Sultan Batheri.
