Indian survivors of Covid 1st wave prone to long-term lung damage: Study
After conducting a series of tests on 207 Covid-19 or SARS-CoV-2 survivors from the first wave of the pandemic, the study found many of these were infected with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) that is likely to result in fibrotic interstitial lung disease.

The first case of this variant was found in Kerala on December 8, after which the Centre urged states and union territories to maintain constant vigil, including monitoring and reporting district-wise cases of Influenza-like Illness and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness in all health facilities regularly for early detection.
