The water in Tungabhadra reservoir has turned dark green in the last few days. Environmentalists have attributed the phenomenon to cyanobacteria or blue-green algae bloom, which thrives in warm and calm waters.

48K cusecs of water released from Tungabhadra reservoir
As much as 48,000 cusec of water was released from all the 33 crest gates of Tungabhadra reservoir on Sunday. The dam had water up to 1631.29 feet against the maximum of 1,633 feet.
