Tripura Election Results Updates: 'AICC needs to introspect why people like Pradyot leave the party,' says Tipra Motha chief
The Tripura Assembly elections saw BJP first cross the majority mark along with IPFT, and then managing to cross the majority alone with 31 seats to their name. CPI(M) and Congress, despite their alliance, managed only 14 seats while the more recent Tipra Motha made a mark, clinching 13 seats after turning down alliance offers from the ruling BJP and the Opposition. Following the poll results, BJP's top order lauded the win and promised development for the Northeastern state. The Tipra Motha chief, meanwhile, said the AICC need to reflect why people are leaving their party, and added Tipra Motha would not join either CPI(M) or Congress, but as the second largest Opposition party, would have a say in the working of the state government. "AICC needs to introspect why people like Pradyot leave the party...Congress thought back then that I was of no use, maybe Congress made a mistakes somewhere...,"Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma said, adding "Congress was my parent party & today we have won, congress have got less seat...3 people who have won from Congress, I have worked under all of them and I thank them."
He also said "We are the 2nd largest party so we will sit in the constructive opposition but will not sit with CPM or Congress. We can sit independently. we will help the govt as & when they need."(ANI)
