New Delhi: Filing of nominations for the second phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections ended on Tuesday, with candidates in 38 constituencies filing papers.

While scrutiny of forms is set to take place on Wednesday, candidates can withdraw their nominations until November 1. Elections will take place in two phases; phase 1 will take place on November 13 and phase 2 on November 20.

For the first phase, papers of 743 candidates were accepted during the scrutiny process, a poll official said on Tuesday. On the other hand, 62 nomination papers were rejected. In all, 805 candidates filed nominations for the first phase. In the first phase, 43 constituencies are headed to the polls.

A poll official said that, in the first phase, Barkagaon, Jamshedpur West, and Hatia constituencies recorded the highest number of candidates, with 28 candidates each. On the other hand, Kharsawan had the lowest with 10 candidates.

Additionally, illegal materials and cash worth over Rs 86.32 crore was seized from different parts of the state since the announcement of the assembly elections. In all, 20 FIRs have been lodged for violations of the model code of conduct.
