While a huge crowd had gathered to get a glimpse of the Bollywood star, Mithun became a target for pickpockets as his wallet was stolen during the rally.

A video surfaced in which a party member while addressing the gathering was heard requesting the crowd and those on the stage to return Chakraborty's wallet. According to reports, the incident happened at Nirsa Assembly where Mithun had gone to extend support for BJP's Aparna Sen Gupta.

"I urge whoever has taken Mithun da's purse, please come on the stage and return it," one of the organisers of the rally is seen saying on the mic. However, it is not clear if the actor had eventually gotten his wallet back or not.

Mithun had led a massive roadshow in Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district on Monday as well.

He campaigned for BJP candidate Meera Munda, the wife of former CM Arjun Munda, in the Potka constituency.

A large crowd, which included a significant number of women, had gathered as the roadshow covered the Gopalpur, Rakhamines and Jadugora areas. Chakraborty then went to Dahigora Circus Maidan in Ghatsila where he briefly addressed a rally in favour of BJP candidate Babulal Soren.

Chakraborty promised to visit the area again if the BJP is voted to power in the state.

"If you want a miracle to happen, vote for BJP," he told the rally.

FIRs against Mithun

Earlier, two FIRs were lodged against Mithun for allegedly making provocative statements during a BJP event in Salt Lake area near Kolkata last month.

The complaints pertain to Chakraborty's speech on October 27 at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC) in Salt Lake, during a BJP programme attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was in Kolkata to launch the party's West Bengal membership drive.

The first FIR was filed at the Bidhannagar South police station based on a complaint by an individual, while the second was lodged at Bowbazar police station.

Polling for the 81-member assembly will be held on November 13 and 20. The votes will be counted on November 23.

Assembly Elections 2024 | The Maharashtra Assembly polls will take place against the backdrop of a fractured political landscape in the western state where the Shiv Sena and NCP will be going up against the Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar factions, even as the BJP and Congress try to make their mark. Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, the JMM faces a new challenge after Hemant Soren's recent arrest and Champai, a longstanding party member, joining the BJP. The Haryana election resulted in a shock loss for Congress, which was looking to galvanize on the Lok Sabha poll performance, while J&K also saw the grand old party eventually stepping away from the cabinet, with Omar Abdullah's JKNC forming government. It remains to be seen if the upcoming polls help BJP cement its position further or provide a fillip to I.N.D.I.A.
