BJP-IPFT alliance gets majority in 60-member assembly, returns to power

The BJP-IPFT alliance won 31 seats in the 60-member Tripura assembly, securing its return to power in the northeastern state for the second time in a row.

According to the Election Commission website, the BJP bagged 30 seats while the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) got one.(PTI)

Modi expected to address BJP meeting as party retains power

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address BJP workers and supporters on Thursday as the party appeared set to retain power in Tripura on its own.

BJP lauds Centre's peace, development initiatives in northeast as it leaves rivals behind in Tripura

The BJP on Thursday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government's agenda of peace and development in the northeast as the party led in a majority of seats in Tripura.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said people in the region have seen for the first time how closely and sincerely the Centre has worked to bring in the region peace and development, be it big projects like building highways or providing them with basic amenities like drinking water, free ration and electricity.(PTI)

Tripura CM Manik Saha leading in hisTown Bardowali constituency. The BJP candidate has secured3377 EVM votes, as per ECI, which accounts for50.5 per cent of the votes from the constituency. INC's Asish Kumar Saha is coming up second, securing 3033 votes, accounting for 45.36 per cent of the total votes from there.

The BJP alliance is leading in 39 seats, the CPI(M)-Congress alliance in 15, and theTipra Motha lead in 6 seats.
