Two buses were stationed outside the T3 Terminal to ferry the players to their hotel, from where they will head to the Prime Minister's residence at 9 am tentatively for a reception.
Police have made elaborate security arrangements for the road show of the T20 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team on Thursday evening in Mumbai where a large number of fans are expected to gather to watch the procession, an official said.
The victorious team, which returned to the country on Thursday morning, will take part in an open bus road show followed by a felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium in south Mumbai.
The victory procession will be held between 5 and 7 pm from Nariman Point to the Wankhede Stadium, the official said on Wednesday.
As a large number of people are expected to gather for the event, police are taking utmost precaution to avoid any untoward incident, he said. (PTI)

"The entire nation is proud of them. It's great to have them back in India after winning the trophy after 13 years. This is home for Indian cricket team. They stay here and love the hospitality here," said ITC Maurya VP of Operations Atul Bhalla.

2007 victory parade
When M S Dhoni-led Team India won the T20 world cup on September 24, 2007 and returned to Mumbai, they were accorded a grand welcome and travelled in an open-deck bus from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to the Wankhede Stadium, where a formal function was held. The Marine Drive saw a huge crowd as fans cheered the men-in-blues.
2011 celebrations and fireworks
Celebrations broke out and fireworks followed at the Marine Drive on 2 April, 2011, when the Indian team, again led by M S Dhoni defeated the Sri Lankan team at the finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup. People came to the streets and celebrities rubbed shoulders with commoners during the celebrations. The next day, the then President Pratibha Patil hosted the victorious Indian team at the laws of the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai.
Indian players including Rahul Dravid, Hardik Pandya & Virat Kohli wereseen applauding the fans, who were present for the victory parade.
The team bus has finally entered the Wankhede Stadium, where the team India will be felicitated in an event.
