BJP’s Maharashtra points person Devendra Fadnavis will continue as deputy chief minister, and that has already gone into analysing what went wrong in the Lok Sabha polls and coming up with strategies to counter opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi and its narrative.

After the BJP-led alliance got drubbing in the Lok Sabha polls by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (I.N.D.I.A), comprising Congress, Uddhav Thackeray-headed Shiv Sena (UBT) and Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP), Fadnavis took the moral responsibility and urged the party high command to relieve him from the government and allow him to work in the government.

Fadnavis met RSS functionaries in Nagpur and also called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda in New Delhi to discuss the political fallout.

“I had led the BJP in this Lok Sabha election, so I said I am responsible for this defeat. I had asked to be allowed to leave my post so that I could work at the grassroots for the Vidhan Sabha elections. But the top leadership showed faith in me. Some people thought that I was disappointed, but I am not going to run away. Our inspiration is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj," Fadnavis told a meeting of top party leaders, MLAs and MLCs in Mumbai.

According to him, he already has a strategy in mind. “I have already started working from the day after the results were declared,” he said.
